Tromso Borealis Autumn

Tromso is known as the Gateway to the Arctic. Situated in the heart of the Northern Lights zone, it is a great place to experience this mysterious phenomenon during Autumn, while you are surrounded by weathered islands, breathtaking fjords and glaciers, and the majestic Lyngen Alps.

Itinerary

Day 1 Tromso Arrival

Arrival at Tromso Airport, and transfer by shuttle bus to the city for 3 nights accommodation at Clarion Collection Hotel Aurora or similar in Tromso. Remainder of day at leisure. 

Day 2 Polaria, Fjellheisen Cable Car and Northern Lights Hunt by Bus

Today at leisure to visit Polaria and Fjellheisen Cable Car on your own, entrance tickets included. Housed in a very distinctive building that represents ice floes, Polaria is an unique Arctic discovery centre. The museum offers many interesting exhibits, a panoramic cinema and an Arctic aquarium, its main attraction is the bearded seals. Fjellheisen Cable Car runs from Solliveien in Tromsdalen up to the mountain ledge Storsteinen in just 4 minutes. From the viewing platform at the upper station, you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Tromso and the surrounding islands, mountains and fjords. 

Evening Northern Lights Hunt with Norwegian Charm by bus. Your guide will find the best area for Aurora searching, based on the weather conditions. Hear about the folklore, myths and scientific facts that are associated with this phenomenon. Your guide will assist you with camera settings to take the best possible pictures. Enjoy warm drinks and snacks before returning to your hotel. 2nd overnight at Clarion Collection Hotel Aurora or similar in Tromso.

Day 3 Optional Puppy Training, Optional Whale Watching; Evening Aurora Dinner Cruise

Day at leisure or time for an optional excursion:
Optional Puppy Training - guided walk with an experienced handler, where you will help train the future racing superstars. The puppies are between 4 weeks and 7 months old. Depending on their age, we will do different exercises to teach them teamwork with other dogs and humans. Enjoy a traditional lunch by the open fire in a cosy gamme hut. 4.5 hours duration (Sep - mid Nov).
Optional Whale Watching on hybrid electric boat - get a unique perspective on the magnificent Humpback Whales and Orcas as they feed in the herring-rich fjords of the Arctic. Head out to the whales’ feeding grounds in time to enjoy the few hours of polar daylight. On the way you can take in the breathtaking views of frozen landscapes in comfortable, warm lounges with panoramic windows. The passionate guides will share personal stories about interesting sights along the way. Purpose built for whale watching, the boat has multiple decks, giving you space and great views. 8-9 hours duration (Nov only).

This evening, cruise silently on hybrid electric boat into the darkness of the Tromso fjords while enjoying an Arctic inspired dinner on board. Learn more about the frozen landscape and the local culture. With some luck and the right conditions, you might glimpse the beauty of the Northern Lights in the night sky. 3rd overnight at Clarion Collection Hotel Aurora or similar in Tromso.

Day 4 Tromso Departure

Breakfast at the hotel, transfer by shuttle bus from the city centre to Tromso Airport. End of arrangements.
